Gonzales v. Raich, 545 U.S. 1, 125 S. Ct. 2195, 162 L. Ed. 2d 1 (2005)

Facts:
Users and growers of marijuana for medical purposes under California Compassionate Use Act sought declaration that Controlled Substances Act (CSA) was unconstitutional as applied to them.
The U.S. District Court denied plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction. Plaintiffs appealed.
The Ninth Circuit reversed and remanded. Certiorari was granted.

Holding:
The Supreme Court held that application of CSA provisions criminalizing manufacture, distribution, or possession of marijuana to intrastate growers and users of marijuana for medical purposes did not violate Commerce Clause.
Vacated and remanded.
